Project history

These vessels were designed by Eng Director Carlo Vigna and were a repetition of Giovanni Bausan.

There was thin sloping protective deck.

Naval service

Etna served as a TS from 1907 to Sept 1914; during the First World War she was employed as a harbour headquarters ship, later as a harbour defence ship and lastly as a depot ship and headquarters for the C-in-C Italian Fleet at Taranto.
