Project history

GRP personnel launches for use with the San Giorgio class. Assigned NATO "L"-series pennants are no longer carried, and the craft have been renumbered from the original MTP (Mototrasporti Personale) series to MDN. The last three built had waterjets, and the propellers are being replaced by waterjets in the earlier units. Have a small bow ramp and can transport light vehicles.

Modernizations

1990s-2000s, MDN94-104, 108, 109, 114-117: propellers were replaced by 2 waterjets
