Submarine cruiser with strong gun armament was designed in Germany since 1937. Double-hulled, with fuel and ballast tanks in inter-hull space. Pressure hull cross-section in the aft part could had form of horizontal 8. Maximal diving depth could been 240m. Small seaplane Ar 231 could been hold disassembled in 2.26m-diameter vertical tube between CT and fore gun mount.
Order for 4 submarines was given out 17.1.1939 but cancelled after war beginning.
