Project history

Special project of patrol ship / submarine chaser based on design of trawler Uhlenhorst of Norderwerft with enhanced compartment division, strengthened stem and stern and double bottom at about half of length.

Modernizations

Mob-FD1 - 3, 1941: - 4 x 1 - 533 TT, 2 DCR; + 1 x 1 - 13/94, 4 DCT (76 DC).

all survived, 1943: - 1 x 1 - 13/94; + 1 x 1 - 37/80 SK C/30, 1 x 4 - 20/65 C/38, 4 x 1 - 20/65 C/38

Naval service

V6308 (Mob-FD1) was badly damaged by Allied aircraft 22.10.11944 off Sylte Fjord but transferred to GMSA 9.1945 and later transferred to the USSR. V6307 (Mob-FD2) was sunk by Allied aircraft 17.7.1944 off Loppen. UJ1214 (Mob-FD3) was mined 4.10.1943 in Bussesund. UJ1406 (Mob-FD4) was bombed by Allied aircraft 15.1.1943 at Lorient. UJ1110 (Mob-FD6) was mined 9.7.1942 off Hammerfest. UJ175 (Mob-FD32) was mined 7.1.1941 S off Feiestein. UJ1201 (Mob-FD33) was sunk by torpedo 26.9.1941 from British submarine Tigris W of Nordkap, aft part of ship was towed to Rostock and 29.4.1944 ship was commissioned again. UJ1405 (Mob-FD35) was sunk in 1944 at St. Nazaire by Allied aircraft. UJ1111 (Mob-FD36) was torpedoed by British submarine Sceptre 20.10.1944 NW Egersund. UJ1705 (Mob-FD61) was sunk by British aircraft 17.7.1943 SW off Bergen. UJ1702 (Mob-FD62) was sunk 1.2.1944 by British aircraft W off Stadlandet. UJ1703 (Mob-FD63) was sunk by Allied air torpedo 5.3.1944 off Lindesnes. UJ1205 (Mob-FD81) sunk after collision with minesweeper M29 1.12.1942 off Suursaaki. UJ117 (Mob-FD82) was mined off Hangö 30.9.1941. UJ1407 (Mob-FD83) was lost by unknown cause after April, 1944, salvaged by Italians. UJ1408 (Mob-FD84) was sunk by Allied aircraft 30.6.1944 off Concarneau.
