Project history

All the boats in the S7-S65 group were adhered to Schichau's standard torpedo boat form, with the maximum breadth of hull well aft, producing a plan that resembled a pear shape.

Modernizations

1893, all: - 1 x 5 - 37/27; + 1 x 1 - 50/37 SK L/40 C/92

1911, all: were reboilered with 1 Marine boiler

1913, T24, 25, 27-31: - 1 - 350 TT, 2 x 1 - 350 TT; + mechanical minesweeping gear

Naval service

Some of the earliest boats were discarded 1900-1910, becoming target boats or tenders, or just being broken up, but the majority were rebuilt and reboilered. In 1910 the survivors had their designations changed from S to T, to clear the S numbers for new destroyers. During the war they were used as minesweepers. T25 collided in North Sea 6.11.1914 with torpedo boat T72 and sunk. S26 foundered 22.9.1887 in a storm at the mouth of Elbe.
