Project history

Single-hull steel submarines designed by M Maugas ordered on 26 September 1899. Initial cost of each boat was £32,000. Electric power supplied from accumulators only.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

Farfadet sank accidentally on 5 July 1905 at Bizerta (14 lives lost) and refloated. Commissioned on September 1909 as Follet. Lutin also sank accidentally on 16 October 1906 and refloated.
