Project history

Derived from the local support tenders of the Chamois class, these ships have replaced the former US Adjutant class converted minesweepers in the diving support role. A team of up to fifteen divers can be accommodated. Two semirigid inflatables are carried abaft the funnels. The single hydraulic crane can lift 5t at 6m radius, 1.5t at 10m. The Syledis precision navigation system is fitted.

Modernizations

early 2000s, all: - DRBN-32 radar; + DRBN-38 radar

Naval service

Acheron is serving as training ship for the diving school at Toulon.
