Built under 1934 (1 ship), 1936 (4) and 1937 (8) programmes. La Trompeuse was cancelled. Under the design they should have minesweeping equipment. Really no one ship received it, they all were equipped instead by 2 DCT and 1 DCR. May be, some ships under British and FNFL control were rearmed with British 102mm guns and single pompoms.

Commandant Duboc, Commandant Dominié, La Moqueuse and La Capricieuse 3.7.1940 were captured by British. First three have been transferred to FNFL. Élan participated in the Syrian campaign of 1941 and then was interned in Turkey till 23.12.1944. Commandant Rivière and La Batailleuse were captured by Germans at Bizerte 8.12.1942 but never commissioned by them. Commandant Rivière was sunk by Allied aircraft. La Batailleuse was transferred to Italians and named FR57; 9.9.1943 she was scuttled at La Spezia, again salvaged by Germans and ultimately scuttled by them at Genoa. L`lmpétueuse and La Curieuse were scuttled at Toulon 27.11.1942, both salvaged by Italians, named FR54 and FR55 respectively and 4.9.1943 were captured by Germans. Former was scuttled by them at Marseilles, latter served as fast escort SG25 and in 1944 was scuttled by Germans at Toulon. Commandant Bory, Commandant Delage, La Boudeuse and La Gracieuse after Allied landing in the North Africa have come over to the side of Allies.
