Ordered on 23.2.1893, Forban was an improved Filibustier with similar but more powerful engines. She made the spectacular speed of 31.03ktsoh trials, the first vessel in the world to pass 30kts. Forban was also a good seaboat and an economical steamer, and naturally caused great interest at the time.
