Project history

Former Italian light cruisers of Capitani Romani class, acquired under the Peace Treaty of 1948.

Ship protection

Turrets had 20mm faces, 6mm sides and rears. Bridge had 15mm protection.

Modernizations

(1951-1954), both: were reconstructed with 3 x 2 - 105/65 SK C/33, 5 x 2 - 57/60 Mod 1951, 4 x 3 - 550 TT, DRBV-20A, DRBV-11, DRBC-11, 2x DRBC-30 radars

Naval service

 Both were reclassified as destroyers in 1954 and fitted out in the late 1950s as command ships and flotilla leaders.
