First torpedo boats of Danish Navy which are not yielding to foreign contemporaries in dimensions and armament. Design was developed by Danish Admiralty. Hull was flush-deck, all armaments (except TTs and 20mm Madsen MGs) were made by Bofors.
Building of these ships was been approved in 1939, however German intrusion in the spring 1940 and actual occupation have removed laying down for two years, to mid-1942. One year later torpedo boats were launched, but almost right after their rate of building has notably decreased: after August, 1943 regime of occupation was hardened and Danes meaningly works braked, being afraid, that right after completion Najaden and Nymfen will appear in Kriegsmarine list. Ships have become operational only in two years after an end of war (already since 1945 under new names). Instead of 533mm TTs provided by the project, which have not been made, torpedo boats were temporarily armed by 450mm ones, removed from Dragen class. In 1951 ships were reclassified as coastal destroyers, and in 1958 they beacme patrols.
