Project history

Built for Canton squadron. Ships had lattice masts and splinterproof armour. On Canton dialect names were read as Kin Yu and Chip Shun.

Naval service

Authentic data about fate are absent; possibly, in September, 1937 both were sunk by Japanese aircraft at Canton (Guangzhou).
