This was the first Chinese warship to be built with helicopter capability, with a hangar and pad aft for one Zhi-9 helicopter (a Chinese-built version of the French SA-365N Dauphin), replacing the after gun mount and two SSM launchers. Also equipped with a French main gun and ASW torpedoes and US decoy launchers.
