Project history

Wood- and copper-sheathed hull with raised forecastle and poop. 150mm guns were installed in sponsons and 120mm guns fore and aft.

Ship protection

Full length protective deck was 35mm at flat part and 60mm at slopes abreast machinery and 25mm at flat part and 35mm at slopes at ship ends.

Modernizations

1908, Presidente Errázuriz: boilers were replaced by 4 Belleville; - 4 x 1 - 150/36, 2 x 1 - 120/36; + 4 x 1 - 152/45 Armstrong KK, 2 x 1 - 120/45 Canet M1890

Naval service

By 1919 Presidente Errázuriz served as gunnery TS.
