Project history

Steel-hulled destroyers with turtleback-form forecastle and three funnels. Contract speed was 26kts for 3hrs, but ships had difficulty achieving it.

Ship protection

Armour plating extended over the boilers and machinery at the waterline.

None.

Naval service

Santa Fé wrecked 19.4.1897 on Rio de La Plata off Colonia del Sacramento during a storm.
